About JourneyWise
JourneyWise is a B2B SaaS revenue execution platform built for growing revenue teams. We help businesses connect fragmented inbound and outbound buyer activity, understand prospect fit and intent, and give sales teams the context they need to prioritise the right opportunities and take the right next action.
Our focus is simple: helping revenue teams spend less time manually piecing together buyer activity and more time engaging the opportunities most likely to convert.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Sales Manager – Africa to help build and scale JourneyWise's sales motion across African markets.
This is an early-stage sales role. The successful candidate will not inherit a fully established sales engine or simply manage other salespeople. They will work closely with the Founder to refine our ICP, messaging, outbound strategy and sales process while personally prospecting, running discovery, demonstrating the product and closing customers.
As the sales motion becomes repeatable, the role will expand into building and managing the wider sales function.
Key Responsibilities
- Own JourneyWise's sales pipeline across target African markets.
- Prospect into target B2B companies through cold calling, cold email, LinkedIn and other relevant channels.
- Respond to and qualify inbound opportunities.
- Conduct discovery calls to understand prospects' revenue processes, pain points and buying requirements.
- Deliver JourneyWise product demonstrations.
- Manage opportunities from initial conversation through negotiation and close.
- Develop relationships with key decision-makers across Sales, Marketing, Revenue Operations and company leadership.
- Work with the Founder to continuously refine JourneyWise's ICP, positioning, messaging and sales playbook.
- Identify buying signals, trigger events and high-potential accounts.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and sales activity records.
- Analyse conversion rates across the funnel and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop repeatable outbound sequences and prospecting strategies.
- Provide structured customer and market feedback to the product team.
- Over time, help recruit, onboard, coach and manage additional sales team members.
Initial Performance Expectations
The first 60–90 days will be treated as a ramp and validation period while we establish reliable conversion benchmarks. Our initial working expectations include approximately:
- 250 new prospects worked per week / 1,000 per month
- Multi-channel prospecting across calls, email and LinkedIn
- Approximately 5+ qualified meetings booked per week, subject to early funnel validation
- Consistent creation of qualified sales opportunities
- Ownership of opportunities through to closed-won revenue
- Continuous improvement of prospect-to-meeting, meeting-to-opportunity and opportunity-to-close conversion rates
We care about commercial outcomes, not activity for activity's sake. Prospecting volume is important, but success will ultimately be measured by qualified pipeline and revenue generated.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have
- Proven B2B sales experience, preferably within SaaS, technology, fintech or another complex B2B environment.
- Experience personally generating pipeline through outbound prospecting.
- Strong cold-calling and cold-email skills.
- Experience conducting discovery calls and product demonstrations.
- Evidence of personally closing B2B deals and working towards revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of pipeline management and sales funnel metrics.
- Ability to sell to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Experience using CRM and sales engagement tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A data-driven approach to sales performance.
- The ability to operate independently in an early-stage startup environment.
Strong advantages, will differentiate your application
- Experience managing or coaching salespeople is advantageous.
The Person We're Looking For
This role will suit someone who is comfortable being both player and coach. We are looking for someone who can take a target and figure out how to reach it, rather than waiting for a fully developed playbook.
They should be commercially minded, curious and comfortable experimenting with messaging, channels and targeting while using data to understand what is working.
Most importantly, they should understand that more sales activity does not automatically create more revenue. We want someone who thinks about the entire funnel — from ICP and targeting through discovery, pipeline creation, conversion and close.
Compensation
- Base salary: ₦350,000–₦400,000 per month, depending on experience.
- Commission: Performance-based and uncapped, primarily tied to closed-won new business/revenue.
- The detailed commission structure, revenue targets and accelerators will be agreed as part of the hiring process.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first few months, we expect the Sales Manager to have helped JourneyWise establish a clearer and increasingly repeatable African sales motion: a validated ICP, stronger messaging, consistent qualified meetings, growing pipeline and new paying customers.
As JourneyWise grows, there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to take on broader responsibility for building and leading the African sales organisation.
